Form rich, meaningful relationships that nurture empathy, foster belonging, support well-being, and build social capital.

Sarah King opened Black Hills Homeschool Pod in January 2022.

She was inspired by a nature-based preschool her children attended. In 2019 she co-founded a homeschool co-op, where she taught picture and composer studies, poetry, jump rope, story time yoga, prairie and nature studies. The pandemic spurred her creative dream to align her career with her family’s homeschool journey and to foster an inclusive learning community in Rapid City, SD, and the pod was born!

Sarah is committed to ongoing self education in wonder learning and growth mindset. She is part of the Social Justice Kids: Love Kids national cohort, as well as having taken classes through SD Discovery Center on “How to Teach Nature Journaling,” and “Learning from Indigenous Elders” through Humanities North Dakota.

Sarah has over 17 years of Management experience in expanding Independent Businesses. She co-managed an independent coffee shop in NYC, worked at bookstores in Portland, OR and Seattle, and has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Washington.

She directed 5 film shorts on Brooklyn Cable Access Television, managed two national tours and performed in a multimedia performance collective, and has curated over 200 live performances within her work spaces and personal career. She believes in community based culture.
